Breast Cancer Screening & Early Detection: Guidelines & Resources
General Breast Cancer Screening Guidelines
Women between the ages of 20 and 39: Perform a breast self-exam every month and have a clinical breast exam by a health care professional every three years or more frequently if you have a family history of the disease or have had previous breast biopsies taken.
Women age 40 or older: Perform a breast self-exam every month, have a clinical breast exam by a health care professional and a screening mammogram every year. For women with a family history of the disease or previous breast biopsies may be advised to begin these even earlier.
