Cardiac Testing at Swedish Medical Center

Pulmonary Testing, EKG, Echocardiogram, Holter Monitor, Treadmill, TEE, Tilt Table & Cardioversion

Outpatient Procedure

Once your doctor has requested a cardiac test, you can call 303-788-5100 to schedule your appointment at Swedish's Cardiac Testing.

Check In

In general, patients should arrive 30 minutes before their scheduled appointment and check in at Admissions off of the main lobby on the 1st floor prior to going up to Cardiac Testing. If your procedure requires you to check in more than 30 minutes in advance of your appointment, a representative from Cardiac Testing will let you know beforehand. Please bring your driver's license, insurance card(s) and copay to Admissions for check in.

Once checked in, you will be directed to Cardiac Testing on the 4th floor. From Admissions, proceed west to the Chapel elevator, go to the 4th floor and Cardiac Testing is located just north of this elevator.

Insurance

Prior to arriving at Swedish for your procedure, please contact your insurance provider to determine the amount of your copay for the procedure. Your copay will be due at the time of service.

Parking

We recommend that patients use our free valet parking services located at the main entrance to Swedish or self-park directly across the street in the South Parking Garage. Once parked, you will have a significant walk to Admissions and then to Cardiac Testing; if you need a wheelchair, please ask the valet parking attendants or the volunteers at the main entrance to get one for you. Testing Length

• If you are scheduled for an EKG, Echocardiogram or Holter Monitor Test, there is no special preparation required and these tests take approximately 30 minutes to complete.
• If you are scheduled for a Regular Treadmill Test, you must fast for two to four hours and do not take any beta blocker medications for at least 12-24 hours prior to testing. Treadmill tests take approximately 30 minutes to complete.
• If you are scheduled for any type of Pulmonary Testing, you should fast for four hours and do not use any bronchodilators for at least four hours prior to the test. Pulmonary testing takes approximately one hour to complete.
• If you are scheduled for a Tilt Table Test, TEE or Cardioversion, you should begin fasting at midnight before your scheduled appointment. These tests take approximately one to two hours to complete.

Getting Home

If you are undergoing an EKG, Echocardiogram, Holter Monitor Test, Treadmill Test, or Pulmonary Testing, you will be able to drive yourself home following the procedure. If you are undergoing a Tilt Table Test, TEE or Cardioversion, you must have someone else drive you home following your test; please make arrangements for a ride home prior to your appointment.
