The thigh bone (femur) is the longest and strongest bone in the body. It is rounded at the highest end and fits into the cup (acetabulum) part of the pelvic bone, making a ball and socket joint. This joint is called the hip.
About Total Hip Surgery
Total hip surgery is the replacement of a damaged hip with an artificial joint. The total hip is made of two parts: a metal ball with a stem and a plastic-like cup. When in place, these reconstruct the hip into a functional ball and socket joint. Following this operation, the hip is progressively less painful and has good motion.
