11-year-old Lukas didn’t intend to spend part of his Colorado vacation in the pediatric department at Swedish Medical Center. But, while playing with friends, he put his hand down on a rock and felt something bite. Looking down, he saw a gray-colored snake with black spots slithering away. Scared and in pain, he went with his dad to the emergency department.
Doctors at Swedish diagnosed a snake bite. Lukas received antivenin and spent the night in the hospital. Back home in Philadelphia, he’ll see toxicology specialist and do some physical therapy as the swelling from the bite slowly goes down.
“I wish the snake knew I wasn’t intending to bother it,” commented Lukas.
