Our program was founded by combining the specialized technical and personnel resources of Swedish Medical Center with the vision of Andrew Nemechek, M.D., F.A.C.S., to establish a comprehensive regional referral center for patients with head and neck tumors. Dr. Nemechek, founder of Head and Neck Surgical Specialists, is a leading expert in the field of head and neck oncologic surgery.

He received his medical degree from Tulane University and earned his board certification in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck surgery in 1998. Following residency training, Dr. Nemechek completed a fellowship in Advanced Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. He has authored numerous articles and chapters in the field of head and neck surgery and actively participates in the American Head and Neck Society.

In addition to heading the Head and Neck Tumor Program at Swedish, Dr. Nemechek is an assistant clinical professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
