Cardiolite Stress Test at Swedish

Instructions and Preparation Information

Please arrive in the Radiology department for the admissions process. A nuclear medicine technologist will greet you for the appointment. A small intravenous (I.V.) line will be started by the technologist for the exam. Please wear loose, warm, comfortable clothing and walking shoes. The technologist will inject a radioactive tracer through the I.V. and resting images will begin 15 to 20 minutes later. The radiotracer will not cause any allergic reaction or discomfort. The pictures will take 12 to 15 minutes while lying on your back and arms elevated above your head. Depending on your physician's order and/or your abilities, you will be walking on a treadmill or given a drug to simulate exercise. During this stress portion, you will be given a second injection of the same radiotracer. Forty-five minutes following the stress portion an additional 12 to 15 minutes of images will be completed.
