General Lymphoscintigraphy at Swedish
Information and Preparation Instructions
The purpose of this exam is to look for a potential site of chronic lymphodema or for swollen extremities. Please arrive in the Radiology department for the admissions process. A nuclear medicine technologist will greet you for the appointment. A radiologist will inject a radioactive tracer between the toes on both feet. The tracer will not cause any allergic reaction or symptoms. You will then walk for 5 minutes in order to distribute the tracer, followed by imaging of the lower extremities this can take approximately 1 to 2 hours.
